INVESTIGATIVE AND PARALEGAL SERVICES
Burden of Proof likes to make things simple. Ever go to a website to get an idea of what the cost of services will be, but instead all you get is a phone number? We hate that. We don't keep our rates a secret. There are many investigative companies to choose from, and we understand that our clients like to shop around. We will not try to sell you, which is why we try to be as upfront as possible. The rates below, however, are subject to change and may be adjusted based on many different circumstances, and certain services may be customized to suit the client's specific needs. For an accurate estimate, you will need to contact us eventually, either by phone or by email.
Generally, Burden of Proof charges a flat hourly rate of $75.00 per hour. The hourly rate applies to all investigative services including, but not limited to: Surveillance, Witness Interviews, Person Locates, Service of Legal Documents (Complaints and Subpoenas), Background Checks, Social Media Searches, Report Writing, Travel Time, Drafting of Subpoenas, Drafting of Record Requests (i.e. OPRA), and Consultations/Telephone Conferences with the Client (most initial consultations are not billed, and other telephone calls and meetings with the Client may be billed at the discretion of Burden of Proof).
Expenses for items such as tolls, parking, admissions, lodging, database search fees, etc., will be billed separately. Burden of Proof reserves the right charge for mileage at a rate of $0.60 per mile.
On average, a simple background check consisting of criminal and civil history obtained through publicly accessible databases, which includes a written report, will take 1.5 hours and depends on the extent of the subject's background. More thorough background checks with efforts to verify the information obtained through the publicly accessible databases will take significantly more time.
Other services, such as Legal Document Review (which may include Bate Stamping, Redacting, Logging) and Transcript Digesting (approximately 20 pages of transcript per hour), are also billed at a rate of $85.00 per hour.
Burden of Proof also offers contract attorney services for practicing attorneys. As an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey, Greg DiLorenzo is available for court appearances and depositions as a sub-contractor. Likewise, Burden of Proof also offers legal research and briefing. Legal research requires access to the attorney's legal research database at the expense of the attorney. The hourly rate for sub-contract attorney services will be billed at $90.00/hour.
